FSA Color Photos : FDR's Depression-era Farm Security Administration sponsored the greatest documentary photography effort in American history. Between 1935 - 1945 a dozen under the direction of Roy Stryker produced more than a quarter-million images, pictures, like Dorothea Lange's 'Migrant Mother,' which have defined the period, its problems and policies. Chiefly black-and-white, a fascinating fraction were in color; Kodak's early Ecktachrome, with its strong dyes and vibrant hues. These are resident in the Library of Congress, available for exhibitions like the five dozen we saw in Amsterdam July 2006.
